WHY IS THIS A PRIORITY?
Professional and Community Collaboratives are a necessary focus for the district. Based on educator effectiveness data, Buena Vista School District teachers perform at high levels. The district has been successful in hiring and retaining qualified and powerful teachers. Written curriculum and assessments have been established to coordinate instruction. Through both observation and teacher feedback data, there is high awareness among staff of the written curriculum and assessments (CTACHs) along with agreed upon instructional practices. Identified as a need is: consistent and high levels of implementation of the agreed upon curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices are needed to elevate positive impacts for student success. Research by John Hattie shows Collective efficacy, a group's belief in their ability to positively impact student learning, is a strategy with the highest of impacts on student growth. A focus on the structures and culture needed to strengthen efficacy with the curriculum and assessments in place will move student toward District ENDS. District ENDS 2 identifies every students having the knowledge, skills and critical thinking to pursue individual post secondary goals. It is important there a varied and ample opportunities for students explore careers, studies, and other options for becoming successful after high school.
